Study Permit Renewal in Canada

It may be essential to renew or extend your study permit while studying in Canada.
It’s critical to keep your legal status in Canada throughout this process.

Maintaining Status in Canada

It’s critical not to stay in Canada for longer than your visa allows without first seeking for a change of status.

Furthermore, you must constantly adhere to any terms, such as restrictions on the type of work you may do, the maximum number of hours you can work per week, the amount of time you can study, and so on.

Make sure you read your study permit thoroughly and understand any stipulations it contains.

If you do not apply for a renewal or change of status before your present status expires, you will have to leave Canada before applying to return.

If you file an application for renewal or a change of status before your present status expires, you are regarded to be in “implied status” as a temporary resident until your application is decided.

Renewing/Extending Your Study Permit

You must apply for a renewal if your study permit expires before you have completed your programme of study.

Before your current study permission expires, you should apply for a new one, and you should submit your application at least 30 days before your current permit expires.
You have the option of submitting your application online or via mail.

If necessary, you may apply for a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) after your study permit extension has been approved.
