Caregiver Work Permit in Canada
If you are a caregiver and are looking to move into Canada, there are bunch of pathways that you can opt into.
LCP (Live-In Caregiver Program)
The Live In Caregiver Program is for individuals that are already working in Canada. You are required to have at least 2 years of experience in this before you can apply.
In order to apply for permanent residency via this program, applications are required to:
- Have 2 years of work experience in the program
- Have an approved LCP work permit
- Be working in Canada with an LCP work permit
Also, the caregivers need to be approved for their first LCP work permit based on an employer’s positive LMIA (Labour Market Impact Assessment) application that was submitted on or before November 30, 2014.
The Home Home Child Care Provider Pilot
The Home Child Care Provider Pilot and Home Support Worker Pilot is a pathway that allows eligible caregivers to get permanent residents in Canada.
In order to apply for Permanent Residency they need to have 2 years of Canadian work experience.
Please note that Caregivers with work experience in NOC 4411 (excluding foster parents) are eligible for permanent residency through the Home Child Care Provider Pilot.
Home Support Worker Pilot
The Home Child Care Provider Pilot and Home Support Worker Pilot is a pathway that allows eligible caregivers to get permanent residents in Canada.
In order to apply for Permanent Residency they need to have 2 years of Canadian work experience.
Please do note that note that Caregivers with work experience in NOC 4412 (excluding housekeepers) are eligible for permanent residency through the Home Support Worker Pilot.
